Blog Entry 2

Barack Obama’s speech was inspirational and eye opening. He uses manipulative tactics to drawn in listeners and readers and makes his opinion seem right and the correct way to look at problems we have encountered. Religion is part of his main topic of this speech and he refers to the bible many times and states that 90% of people believe in god while 70% actually affiliate themselves with an organized religion. Religion has always been around and you can relate to it either yourself or from someone that you know which is why Obama states the statistics. It’s more likely for some one to be able to relate with such his percentages. Later on in the speech Obama refers to lots of great leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. He was known for his strong pursuit of equal rights for everyone. Obama explains how faith is important in a lot of people’s lives. Without it how would people of believed in MLK Jr.? faith brings a large portion of people together and Obama successfully brought that into his speech. Obama did a great job of showing all the rhetorical strategies of ethos, pathos, and logos. Whether you agree or disagree Obama had strong information to back up his believes.
