Blog Entry 1

Barack Obama opens his speech with a warm welcome and states clearly that he is here to talk about the connection between religion and politics. His opinion is clearly stated that we as a country need to change the way that we are running out and how our government is working so that our country can end up more stable and understand of everyone and so that our country runs more smoothly. Obama states that we need to change but it can’t just happen in a blink of an eye it involves our government having a change in their hearts and minds. He states that he spent some time working at a church and discovered all of the beliefs and has grown from it. From that he continues to go on about how churches are taking the initiative to better our country and world. Friend’s of Obama who are pastors are wielding influences to confront AIDS, Third World debt relief, and the genocide in Darfur. While we look at our government and don’t really see the same amount of support. Obama state that we need Christians, Jews, and Muslims on Capitol Hill to talk about the estate tax. He never discriminates again a certain religion. Obama believes that if we as a community take the time to come together and ignore what religion each person is from we can move mountains and accomplish what is best for our country. Through out the whole speech Obama is very genuine. Everything he says has substance and meaning behind it.
